Why Stage 2 Formulas?
Regarding baby formulas, there are different approaches around the world. In the United States, formulas are typically categorized by age range, while European baby formulas take a stage-based approach. Essentially, by offering different stages, European formula manufacturers aim to mimic the nutritional complexity of breastmilk by catering to babies' needs at different ages. Stage 2 formula is specially designed for the weaning stage, providing appropriate ingredients for your growing baby. It's important to note that the follow-on formula is intended for babies over six months old. The Stage 2 European Organic Baby Formulas maintain most of the essential ingredients found in infant formula. Stage 2 formulas have an increased level of iron, vitamin D, and calcium to support your little one adequately for this age range. Babies start developing their motor skills at this stage and these vitamins help support physical growth and strengthen your baby’s bones, muscles, and ability to move and touch their surroundings.

Tailored ingredients
The protein composition in European-manufactured stage 2 formulas is different from that of stage 1. Stage 1 contains a protein mix of 40% casein and 60% whey, while stage 2 is composed of 60% casein and 40% whey. This mix mimics the change in composition found in breastmilk and aids in the growing energy need of babies 6 months and older. Some Stage 2 formulas also contain starch and/or maltodextrin to make the formula more creamy and filling. The higher energy levels in Stage 2 formulas may help keep your little one feeling fuller for longer.
