Description
HiPP German Stage 2 Bio COMBIOTIK is an organic follow-on formula for babies from 6 months. It is designed for the second half of your baby's first year, used as part of a mixed diet alongside solids, after breastfeeding or after starting formula.
This is the stage where babies get busy: sitting, crawling, discovering food from the family table. HiPP German Stage 2 grows with a creamy, especially filling recipe, thanks to specially selected organic starch alongside lactose. It provides more iron than Stage 1, right when your baby's iron stores need topping up. Prebiotics and probiotics support the tummy, DHA at 13.6 mg per 100 ml (3.4 fl oz) supports brain and eyesight, and this clean organic recipe contains no added sugar, corn syrup, or soy.
This delicious follow-on milk is crafted in Germany and certified EU Organic (DE-ÖKO-001) with the HiPP Bio seal on top. It comes in a 600 g (21.2 oz) box with a resealable inner bag. The label is in German, so we translated the preparation instructions, feeding chart, and ingredient info into English here.
This formula is rated 4.9 stars by parents in our store. "She loves it, it's been such an easy transition for her. I definitely recommend!"

What Makes This Formula Special
Around 6 months, feeding changes. Purees and finger foods arrive, but milk still does most of the nutritional work, and an active baby needs a bottle that keeps up. HiPP German Stage 2 answers with a recipe that is deliberately more satisfying: next to lactose, the main carbohydrate, it contains specially selected organic starch that makes the feed creamy and especially filling for this age.
Iron is the other big change. Babies are born with an iron store built up during pregnancy, and that store slowly runs down over the first months. By around 6 months it needs topping up, so Stage 2 steps in with 1.0 mg of iron per 100 ml, noticeably more than Stage 1. Iron supports healthy blood, oxygen transport, and a fast-developing brain, and calcium and vitamin D work together for growing bones and the first teeth.
The heart of the recipe stays COMBIOTIK, HiPP's synbiotic combination of prebiotics and probiotics. The GOS prebiotic fibers feed the good bacteria already in your baby's gut, and the probiotic culture L. fermentum, originally found in breast milk, adds to them. HiPP also uses Metafolin® instead of ordinary folic acid, a natural premium folate in the same form found in breast milk, directly available so every baby can use it right away.
This formula carries the EU Organic and HiPP Bio seals. EU Organic is the legal baseline: organic feed, no GMOs, and EU animal-welfare rules. The HiPP Bio seal goes further and means extra lab checks for purity beyond what organic law requires. That is why every box also stays free of artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives.
Coming from HiPP German Stage 1? The step up is seamless: the same organic COMBIOTIK idea, now with more iron and a slightly heartier feed for a bigger appetite. Prefer a large can? HiPP Dutch Stage 2 offers the same COMBIOTIK blend in an 800 g can, usually the better value per gram. And from 10 months, HiPP German Stage 3 continues the range for the next phase.
Safety, Quality and Animal Welfare
Every batch goes through up to 260 safety checks before it leaves quarantine, from the raw materials to the finished box. HiPP tests far more residues than the law requires and only packs a batch if it meets HiPP's own tighter limits. This formula is made in a climate-neutral HiPP plant, and the cows used for this organic milk are raised under EU organic rules and spend as much time as possible outdoors, grazing on pasture.
EU baby formula follows strict European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) rules, including required DHA, staged iron by age, and no corn syrup solids. Those rules are a higher bar than FDA formula standards and apply to all EU and UK formulas we carry. Read more in our EU vs US formula guide.

How to make a bottle

Preparation for HiPP powdered formulas:
- Wash your hands and sterilize the bottle, teat, and ring. Clean them thoroughly.
- Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool. Do not prepare the formula with boiling or very hot water, as this may damage the natural lactic acid cultures.
- Pour the correct amount of cooled boiled water into the sterilized bottle (see feeding chart).
- Measure the recommended amount of powder. Fill the scoop loosely and level off. Add the powder to the water. Scoop size: 4.5g. Use 1 scoop per 30ml water.
- Close the bottle and shake vigorously until the powder is fully dissolved.
- Cool to drinking temperature, approximately 37°C (98°F). Test on the inside of your wrist before feeding. Close the inner bag tightly after each use. Use only the measuring scoop supplied in the box.
Important Information:
- Only use the scoop provided in the pack.
- Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated by adding extra water/scoops, and do not add anything else to the milk.
- Always freshly prepare formula and do not prepare in advance. Use immediately, and discard leftovers at the end of the feed.
- Do not heat a bottle in a microwave, as hot spots may occur, which could cause scalding.
- All opened formulas should be used within 21 days. Never use a formula beyond its expiration date. The expiration date on the formula box/tin is listed according to European standards: day/month/year
- Avoid storing in areas of high heat or humidity.
