HiPP - Organic Goat Milk Formula
Why the A2 Protein Makes HiPP’s Goat Milk Such a Game Changer?
There are different kinds of milk from cows, goats, and sheep; and there are also plant- and nut-based milk like almond, soy, rice, and hemp milk. One of our favorite things about goat milk is its uniqueness, and one of the things that make it so special is its chemical makeup. Milk in general features various kinds of protein, which can impact its digestibility. The two most hotly debated proteins are called A1 and A2, with A2 being touted as the healthier protein. Most milk contains both A1 and A2, but Goat milk is strictly A2, which leaves out the more problematic A1 protein. This protein is known to be the cause of discomfort most often associated with lactose intolerance. The Organic Goat milk from HiPP is made up of only A2 beta-casein, leaving out any A1 beta-casein protein. The final result is a delicious and great formula with lots of flavors that babies love!
What are other important reasons why parents are choosing goat milk formulas?
- Essential (non-synthetic) vitamins and minerals
- Prebiotics (GOS - Galacto-oligosaccharide) aids in the growth of good bacteria in your baby's gut
- No Soy or Added Sugar
- No GMOs according to the strict EU Organic Farming Guidelines
- Rich in Omega-3 (DHA & ALA) which is important for brain and nerve cell development
Milk protein allergy vs intolerance
An important note to make is that a cow’s milk allergy is not the same as a milk protein intolerance. An allergy is much more severe and affects a little less than 5% of the population. Symptoms such as frequent spit up, vomiting, diarrhea, blood in stool or swelling (especially) of the mouth and throat could indicate an allergy. If you expect an allergy to milk protein always consult your pediatrician before you make any changes to your baby or toddler's diet! An intolerance to lactose (milk protein) in babies can cause symptoms such as:
- Gassiness
- Diarrhea
- Failure to thrive and gain weight
- Spitting up
Milk intolerance occurs when a baby is not able to digest the sugar in milk (lactose). As goat milk contains a lower about of lactose compared to cow’s milk your baby might tolerate this formula better.
HiPP Hypoallergenic formulas might in this case also be a good solution as it is specifically developed for babies with that sensitive stomach.
