Cow
Organic cow's milk, four stages, birth to toddler.
HiPP Dutch is HiPP's flagship organic formula made for the Dutch market, and it is the most loved range in our store. One idea runs through every can: stay as close as possible to the gold standard, breast milk. It comes in three lines, so there is a Dutch answer for almost every baby.
HiPP Dutch Cow is the classic. 100% organic skimmed cow's milk, the full COMBIOTIK blend of prebiotics, probiotics, and Metafolin, the same natural folate a mother's milk contains. Four stages carry you from birth all the way to toddler.
HiPP Dutch Goat is the gentle one. Organic goat milk is naturally high in A2 protein and forms softer curds, so digestion takes less effort. Two stages, both certified organic.
HiPP HA Dutch is for sensitive tummies. The milk protein is broken down into much smaller pieces, so part of the digestive work is done in advance. Two stages, and COMBIOTIK and Metafolin stay on board.
Behind all three stands HiPP itself: more than 60 years of formula expertise, up to 260 quality checks on every batch, and organic farming that goes beyond what the law asks. All made in Germany, and every label translated into English for you.
Shop by what your baby needs
All three share the same foundation. Organic farming, gentle lactose, prebiotic fibers, and HiPP's testing. The milk and the protein are what differ, so the choice comes down to your baby's tummy.
Organic cow's milk, four stages, birth to toddler.
Naturally A2, softer curds, two stages.
Protein broken down in advance, two stages.
Breast milk carries the building blocks that steer healthy development, and HiPP develops its recipes against that standard. At the heart sits COMBIOTIK®, pioneered more than 15 years ago. It has two halves.
The prebiotic half is GOS, short for galacto-oligosaccharides. These are soft fibers made from organic lactose. Their job is simple: feed the good bacteria already living in your baby's gut.
The probiotic half is a natural lactic acid culture, Limosilactobacillus fermentum CECT 5716. It was originally isolated from human breast milk. That probiotic culture is what makes a recipe COMBIOTIK, not just organic.

Folate drives cell division and healthy growth. It is one of the most important nutrients in any infant formula.
Most formulas use synthetic folic acid. A baby's body has to activate it before it can be absorbed. HiPP uses Metafolin®, or calcium L-methylfolate, a premium natural folate in the same bioactive form found in breast milk.
Every little body can absorb the Metafolin® right away. It is one of the quiet details that separates HiPP from nearly every other formula on the shelf. You will find it in the Cow stages, Stage 4 Junior and HA. The Dutch Goat cans list ordinary folic acid instead.
Breast milk is the model for every ingredient choice. Alongside the two key ingredients above, this is what completes the recipe.
The protein foundation, from cows raised under organic rules with as much time outdoors on pasture as possible.
A natural, easy-to-digest carbohydrate, and the only sugar in Stage 1. No corn syrup, ever.
Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids support brain and eye development from day one.
No GMOs, no added sugar, no corn syrup, no soy.
EU Organic is the legal baseline: organic feed, no GMOs, EU animal welfare rules. The HiPP Bio seal goes beyond that and covers purity checks that go well beyond it.
Every production run passes up to 260 safety checks before release from quarantine. HiPP's laboratory can test for more than 1,200 parameters.
Produced in a climate-neutral HiPP plant, which is better for the environment. The cows spend as much time outdoors on pasture as possible.

Behind the cans is a family business that is now 125 years old, still run by the founders' great-grandson. A longer read on HiPP the company.
In 1899, Joseph and Maria Hipp, a baker's family in Pfaffenhofen, needed something to feed their newborn twins. Joseph made a rusk flour. Word got around, other parents asked for it, and a baby food company was born.
Long before it was fashionable, Georg and Anny Hipp turned the family farm over to organic growing, against the farming conventions of the day. Their motto still runs the company: the best for nature, the best from nature.
HiPP works with more than 8,000 organic farmers across around 80,000 hectares and processes roughly 150,000 tonnes of organic ingredients a year. That makes it one of the biggest organic processors in the world.
HiPP has put more than 120 million euros into its infant milk factory in Herford since 2016, making it one of the most modern in Europe. That site has been making baby milk since 1950.
Cow is the one most parents choose, and is our best-selling formula. It is made with 100% organic skimmed cow's milk in 800 g (28.2 oz) resealable cans. Lactose is the only carbohydrate in the first three stages, exactly as in breast milk, and every stage carries the COMBIOTIK blend and Metafolin.
Four stages follow your baby's appetite. Stage 1 is complete nutrition from birth, mild and creamy, which is why babies move so easily between breast and bottle. From six months, Stage 2 doubles the iron, right as the stores your baby was born with runs low. Stage 3 from ten months keeps iron high but drops to a lighter 60 kcal per 100 ml, so a bottle sits comfortably next to real meals.
Then Stage 4 Junior takes over from two years as a growing-up milk, about 300 to 330 ml (10 to 11 oz) a day from a cup or bottle. Extra calcium and vitamin D quietly fill the gaps a picky week leaves behind. Not sure where to start? Our stage-by-age guide walks through it month by month.
| Stage | Bottles of 100 ml | What makes it different |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 from birth | 62 | Mild and creamy, lactose only, DHA and ARA at 13.2 mg each |
| Stage 2 from 6 months | 60 | Iron doubles to 1.0 mg |
| Stage 3 from 10 months | 67 | Lighter at 60 kcal, iron stays high at 0.90 mg |
| Stage 4 Junior from 24 months | 74 | Calcium 120 mg, vitamin D 2.9 µg, not certified organic |
HiPP created the Dutch goat recipe in 2022 for babies who find a regular bottle hard work. Goat milk is naturally high in A2 beta-casein and forms softer, smaller curds, so the tummy has to work less hard. GOS prebiotic fiber supports the gut. This recipe has no probiotics (live cultures), so it is not COMBIOTIK, and it comes in smaller 400 g (14.1 oz) cans.
Two stages. Goat Stage 1 is complete nutrition from birth, with lactose as the only carbohydrate, plus DHA and ARA at 13.2 mg each per 100 ml for brain and eye development. From six months, Goat Stage 2 keeps the same gentle recipe for the first solids phase and doubles the iron, as part of a mixed diet. New to goat milk? Start with our goat milk guide.
One thing worth repeating: goat milk still contains milk proteins. It is not a treatment for a confirmed cow's milk protein allergy, always consult with your pediatrician in this case.
| Stage | Bottles of 100 ml | What makes it different |
|---|---|---|
| Goat Stage 1 from birth | About 31 | Naturally A2, lactose only, DHA and ARA at 13.2 mg each |
| Goat Stage 2 from 6 months | About 30 | Iron doubles to 1.0 mg, DHA 13.6 mg |
HA is the answer for mild cow's milk sensitivity, or when allergies run in the family. The milk protein is broken down into much smaller pieces, so a good part of the digestive work is done before the bottle is even mixed. The full COMBIOTIK blend and Metafolin stay on board; it comes in 800 g (28.2 oz) cans, and HiPP built this line on 25 years of research.
Two stages. HA Stage 1 is complete nutrition from birth, and it starts a little higher on iron than Cow or Goat do, at 0.60 mg per 100 ml. From six months, HA Stage 2 is the follow-on step for the first solids phase, as part of a mixed diet.
To be clear about what HA is: a gentler everyday formula, suitable for sensitive tummies. It is not a medical treatment for a confirmed cow's milk protein allergy. Please consult your pediatrician in this case.
| Stage | Bottles of 100 ml | What makes it different |
|---|---|---|
| HA Stage 1 from birth | 62 | Strongly hydrolyzed protein, iron starts higher at 0.60 mg |
| HA Stage 2 from 6 months | 60 | GOS at 0.4 g and DHA at 13.6 mg |
German Stage 1 adds organic starch, which makes it creamier and more filling, in 600 g boxes. Dutch Stage 1 is lactose only, in a bigger can. Hungry baby who wakes early? German. Closest to breast milk and best value? Dutch.
The UK line has full English labeling, which some parents prefer. It carries prebiotics only, with no probiotics, so it is not COMBIOTIK. If the cultures matter to you, Dutch is the one.
Both are organic Dutch-market goat formulas on naturally A2 milk. HiPP adds GOS prebiotics. Holle builds on whole goat milk in the Demeter biodynamic tradition, with no palm oil, in 800 g cans.
EU rules ban corn syrup solids, require DHA, and stage the iron by age. Parents who switch usually notice a shorter ingredient list and a calmer tummy.
Wondering whether a European formula is the right call for a US baby? Our guide on whether HiPP is safe and suitable in the US answers exactly that.
Babies moving from breast to bottle often take to the mild taste right away.
Settled digestion is the story parents tell most. Less gas, less spit-up, calmer feeds.
Parents read the ingredient list once and stop worrying.
Families stay with this range stage after stage, and switch types without leaving the brand.
US parents choose European formula for three reasons: stricter ingredient standards, tighter safety oversight, and a track record going back generations.
EU baby formula follows strict European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) rules, including required DHA, staged iron by age, and no corn syrup solids. Those rules are a higher bar than FDA formula standards and apply to every EU and UK formula we carry. Read more in our EU vs US formula guide.
Batch-level testing is standard across European organic brands. They keep retained samples of every batch for years, and they release a batch only after it passes every checkpoint.
EU-certified organic formulas contain no GMOs, artificial flavors, or artificial preservatives, with strict limits on pesticides and heavy metals.
Europe has produced organic baby formula for most of a century. HiPP alone has more than 60 years of formula experience.

Cow: Stage 1 from birth, Stage 2 from 6 months, Stage 3 from 10 months, Stage 4 Junior from 24 months. Goat and HA each come in Stage 1 from birth and Stage 2 from 6 months. Stage 1 is complete nutrition on its own. Later stages are part of a mixed diet with solid food.
Cow suits most babies and is the best value. Goat is the gentler option when a regular bottle leaves your little one fussy. HA is for mild cow's milk sensitivity or allergies in the family. Neither goat nor HA treats a confirmed cow's milk protein allergy, so ask your pediatrician about that. Our Formula Finder narrows it down in a minute.
All are made by HiPP in Germany. Dutch comes in the biggest cans, and of the four Cow stages the first three keep lactose as the only carbohydrate. German Stage 1 adds organic starch for a creamier bottle, in 600 g boxes. The UK line has English labeling but no probiotics. Full detail in our Dutch vs UK guide.
COMBIOTIK is HiPP's pairing of prebiotics and probiotics. The prebiotics are GOS fibers made from organic lactose, and the probiotic is a natural lactic acid culture originally isolated from human breast milk. Cow and HA carry both. The Dutch Goat recipe has the prebiotic fibers only.
Calcium L-methylfolate, the bioactive form of folate also found in breast milk. Ordinary folic acid has to be converted first. Metafolin is ready to use straight away. Read our blog to understand more about Metafolin.
The first three of the four Cow stages, and both Goat stages, are certified EU Organic with the HiPP Bio seal. Stage 4 Junior and HA cannot carry the seal for technical reasons, but use the same core ingredients and pass the same checks.
No. Goat milk forms softer curds and many parents find it gentler, but it still contains milk proteins. It is not a treatment for a confirmed cow's milk protein allergy. Where allergies run in the family, HA Dutch is the closer fit, and your pediatrician decides.
No. HiPP takes its DHA from fish oil. Our vegetarian collection gathers the options that use algae DHA instead.
Boil fresh water and let it cool to drinking temperature, about 37°C or 98°F, before adding the powder. That protects the probiotics (live cultures). Add level scoops, shake well, and check on your wrist. Please find the full English instructions of the label information here: instructions page.
Go gradually. Swap one bottle a day, then add another every couple of days. Some babies take to it at once, others need a few days, and a small change in stool is normal. Talk to your pediatrician before you start.
HiPP baby formula is designed as a substitute for, or a supplement to, breastfeeding for healthy babies. Breast milk remains the optimal source of nutrition whenever it is possible.
Always consult your pediatrician before introducing or switching any formula. Every baby has unique nutritional needs, especially where there is any history of allergies, digestive issues, or feeding difficulties.
