What Makes This Formula Special
HiPP UK Stage 1 is a nutritionally complete organic first infant milk. It uses organic skimmed milk, organic whey, and organic lactose, plus GOS prebiotics from organic lactose to help feed good gut bacteria. Metafolin® mimics the natural folate found in breast milk. DHA and ARA (13.2 mg each per 100 ml / 3.4 fl oz) support normal brain and eyesight development.
Unlike the Dutch COMBIOTIK line, this UK tin does not include the live lactic acid cultures that make a formula COMBIOTIK.
Compared with HiPP Dutch Stage 1: Both are organic, lactose-based Stage 1 milks in an 800 g (28.2 oz) tin, and both include Metafolin®. Dutch Stage 1 is COMBIOTIK, with probiotics plus prebiotics. HiPP UK Stage 1 has GOS prebiotics only and English labeling.
Safety, Quality and Animal Welfare
EU-made organic formulas from trusted brands like HiPP follow some of the strictest infant nutrition and organic rules in the world, generally stricter than typical US organic standards. HiPP uses premium organic ingredients and places a strong focus on quality and the welfare of the cows used for the milk.
Every batch goes through up to 260 safety checks, from the raw materials to the finished tin, before it is released. HiPP’s own lab can test more than 1,200 parameters.

How to make a bottle

Preparation for HiPP powdered formulas:
To open the tin: remove the tamper-proof clip and dispose of it safely. Open the lid and remove the scoop inside. Slowly pull back the foil seal using the tab. To close, push the lid down until you hear the click. Follow these steps carefully. Powdered milk is not sterile, so incorrect preparation can make your baby ill.
- Wash your hands and sterilize all equipment following the manufacturer's instructions.
- Boil 1 liter of freshly run water and leave it to cool for no longer than 30 minutes. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
- Measure the required amount of water into the sterilized bottle, referring to the feeding guide.
- Using the scoop provided, add the correct number of scoops of powder. Level off using the scoop leveler. Do not press the powder down. Scoop size: 4.3g. Use 1 scoop per 30ml water.
- Place the sterilized teat and cap on the bottle and shake well until all the powder has dissolved, about 15 seconds.
- Cool to drinking temperature, approximately 37°C (98°F), by holding the bottle under cold running water. Feed immediately. Always test the milk temperature before feeding. Always prepare feeds fresh and use them immediately. Never prepare in advance, and throw away any unfinished feed within 2 hours. Do not heat feeds in a microwave, as hot spots may occur and could cause scalding. Never leave your baby alone during feeding. Feeds should not be made weaker or stronger than indicated, and nothing else should be added.
Important Information:
- Only use the scoop provided in the can.
- Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated by adding extra water/scoops, and do not add anything else to the milk.
- Always freshly prepare formula and do not prepare in advance. Use immediately, and discard leftovers at the end of the feed.
- Do not heat a bottle in a microwave, as hot spots may occur, which could cause scalding.
- All opened formula should be used within 21 days. Never use a formula beyond its expiration date. The expiration date on the formula box/tin is listed according to European standards: day/month/year
- Avoid storing in areas of high heat or humidity.
