Holle Cow Stage 1 is a triple-certified organic cow milk infant formula for babies from birth to 6 months. Certified EU Organic, Bio-Siegel (Germany's national organic seal), and Demeter Biodynamic, it represents the highest combination of organic standards available in European baby formula. This is the 400g German-market version, made with organic skimmed milk and whey from Demeter biodynamic farms, manufactured in Germany. It can be used as a complete food source from birth or as a supplement to breast milk.
 

Holle German Cow Stage 1 uses organic skimmed cow milk and partially demineralized whey powder, both from Demeter biodynamic farms. This skimmed milk and whey base provides a protein content of 1.4g per 100ml of prepared formula, balanced for newborn digestion. The milk comes from biodynamic grass-fed cows in Germany, raised under the strictest organic animal welfare standards available in Europe.

Lactose is the sole carbohydrate in Stage 1, with 8.0g per 100ml of prepared formula. There is no starch, no maltodextrin, no corn syrup, and no refined sugar. This gives Stage 1 the closest carbohydrate profile to breast milk in the Holle Cow range. From Holle Cow Stage 2 onward, Holle introduces organic maltodextrin and starch alongside lactose to support the higher energy needs of older infants transitioning to solid foods.
 

Holle Cow Stage 1 provides both DHA (15mg per 100ml) from microalgae oil (Schizochytrium sp.) and ARA (15mg per 100ml) from Mortierella alpina oil, supporting brain and eye development from birth. It also includes choline (22mg per 100ml), inositol (4.6mg per 100ml), and L-carnitine (2.2mg per 100ml) for early infant metabolic development. Because DHA comes from algae rather than fish oil, no fish is used in this formula.
The fat blend includes organic palm oil from certified sustainable cultivation, organic sunflower oil, and organic rapeseed oil. Palm oil provides palmitic acid, the most abundant fatty acid in human breast milk, supporting fat absorption and energy. All three oils are organic and sourced from certified sustainable farms.

Like all Holle Cow formulas, Stage 1 meets the highest level of European infant formula regulations set by the EFSA. The Demeter biodynamic certification means the cow milk comes from farms with the strictest organic standards for animal welfare, soil health, and biodiversity available worldwide. Free from soy, gluten, GMOs, corn syrup, and artificial additives. 

As your baby grows, Stage 1 can be followed by Holle Cow Stage 2 from 6 months, Holle Cow Stage 3 from 10 months, and Holle Cow Stage 4 from 12 months.

Please be aware that this product is manufactured according to European Union nutritional standards. Consequently, it may only meet the requirements of customers within the EU.

NOTE: Holle uses a two-step mixing method.

1. Wash your hands and sterilize the bottle, teat, and cap before use.
2. Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to drinking temperature, approximately 37°C (98°F). Do not re-boil water.
3. Pour HALF of the required water into the sterilized bottle.
4. Add the correct number of leveled scoops using only the scoop provided. 
5. Close the bottle and shake vigorously until the powder is fully dissolved.
6. Add the REMAINING HALF of the required water and shake again.
7. Test on the inside of your wrist before feeding. 

Important Information:

• Only use the scoop provided in the can.
• Do not make feeds weaker or stronger than indicated by adding extra water/scoops, and do not add anything else to the milk.
• Always freshly prepare formula and do not prepare in advance. Use immediately, and discard leftovers at the end of the feed.
• Do not heat a bottle in a microwave as hot spots may occur, which could cause scalding.
• All opened formula should be used within 21 days. Never use the formula beyond its expiration date. The expiration date on the formula box/tin is listed according to European standard: day/month/year
• Avoid storing in areas of high heat or humidity.
