Description
HiPP Dutch Goat Stage 1 is an organic infant formula made from A2 goat milk, for newborns and babies from birth onward. It can be used as the sole source of nutrition or alongside breastfeeding.
Some little ones find a regular bottle hard work, and that is often where goat milk shines. Goat milk naturally forms softer, smaller curds in the tummy, so digestion takes less effort. It is also naturally rich in A2 beta-casein, a milk protein many parents seek out for easier feeds. Lactose is the main carbohydrate, which is the same as in breast milk, with no starch and no maltodextrin. GOS prebiotics look after the gut, DHA and ARA support brain and eyesight, and this clean recipe contains no added sugar, no corn syrup, and no soy.
This creamy goat milk formula is crafted in Germany for the Dutch market. It is certified EU Organic (DE-ÖKO-001) with the HiPP Bio seal on top, and comes in a 400 g (14.1 oz) can. Labeling is Dutch and French, which is why we translated the preparation instructions and ingredient info into English here.
This formula is rated 4.9 stars by parents in our store. "This formula has helped my child with gas and spit up so much! Worth the price!"

What Makes This Formula Special
Goat milk digests differently than cow milk, and for some babies that difference is everything. The proteins form softer, smaller curds in the stomach, so a young digestive system processes the feed with less effort. Goat milk is also naturally high in A2 beta-casein and avoids the A1 protein found in most cow milk formulas, the form some parents link to fussiness and discomfort. Beyond the gentle protein, HiPP Dutch Goat Stage 1 contains essential nutrients that mirror the benefits of breast milk, including naturally occurring calcium, potassium, and selenium.
The recipe stays deliberately simple. Lactose is the main carbohydrate, GOS prebiotic fibers feed the good bacteria already in your baby's gut, and organic vegetable oils round out the fats a newborn needs. One honest note: this goat recipe contains prebiotics but no probiotic cultures. If probiotics are a priority for you, HiPP Dutch Stage 1 is the cow milk sister with both.
This formula carries EU Organic plus the HiPP Bio seal. EU Organic is the legal baseline: organic feed, no GMOs, and EU animal-welfare rules. The HiPP Bio seal goes further and means extra lab checks for purity beyond what organic law requires. The goats are raised under EU organic rules, in natural conditions without synthetic pesticides on their feed.
Please note: goat milk proteins are similar to cow milk proteins, so this formula is not suitable for a confirmed or suspected cow's milk protein allergy. Goat milk also naturally contains lactose, so it is not the right choice for diagnosed lactose intolerance. Talk to your pediatrician before you start or switch, and find all our gentle options on our specialty formulas for sensitive tummies page.
At 6 months, continue with HiPP Dutch Goat Stage 2. Curious about the biodynamic path? Holle Organic Goat Stage 1 is the other premium goat option in our store.
Safety, Quality and Animal Welfare
Every batch goes through up to 260 safety checks before it leaves quarantine, from the raw goat milk to the finished can, in HiPP's climate-neutral plant. HiPP tests far more residues than the law requires and only packs a batch if it meets HiPP's own tighter limits.
EU baby formula follows strict European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) rules, including required DHA, staged iron by age, and no corn syrup solids. Those rules are a higher bar than FDA formula standards and apply to all EU and UK formulas we carry. Read more in our EU vs US formula guide.
Why Parents Trust HiPP Dutch Goat Stage 1
Many goat families come to us after a rough start on cow milk formula. One parent wrote: "My son was on a regular goat's milk formula with so many seed oils. Doing this formula for a solid month, we noticed more regular poop and less fussiness." Our support team also hears from combination feeders who keep a can on hand: "Our little one is mostly breastfed, but we wanted a formula backup just in case, and whenever we've needed to use it, he loves it."

How to make a bottle

Preparation for HiPP powdered formulas:
1. Wash your hands, then sterilize the bottle, teat, and ring carefully.
2. Boil fresh drinking water and leave it to cool down before mixing.
3. Pour the correct amount of cooled water into the bottle.
4. Fill the measuring scoop loosely and level it off. Scoop size: 4.3g. Use 1 level scoop per 30ml of water. Add the recommended number of scoops to the bottle.
5. Close the bottle and shake vigorously.
6. Let it cool to drinking temperature, approximately 37°C (98°F). Always check the temperature on the inside of your wrist before feeding.
Important Information:
- Always prepare the bottle just before the feed and give it to your baby straight away.
- Do not warm the milk in a microwave, because of the risk of burns.
- Do not re-use leftover milk. Use only the measuring scoop supplied in this can.
- Frequent and prolonged contact between the teeth and liquids containing carbohydrate can cause tooth decay.
- Teach good dental hygiene from the first milk teeth, especially before bedtime.
