Description
Kendamil Organic First Infant Milk, Stage 1 is an EU-certified organic (GB-ORG-05) first infant milk for babies from birth onward. It is made in Kendal, in the English Lake District, from the milk of grass-fed British cows. It is among the most trusted and nutritionally complete European infant formulas available. Organic whole milk is the first ingredient, so the fat comes from milk rather than added vegetable oil. There is no palm oil, and the DHA comes from algae instead of fish, which is why the milk is certified vegetarian. US parents rate it 4.9 stars, and it is one of the few organic cow infant milks that is vegetarian.
Most first infant milks are built from skimmed milk, with vegetable oils added back to replace the fat that was taken out. Kendamil starts with whole milk and keeps the milk fat in. That is the difference the can is really about, and the rest follows from it. The milk comes from 25 organic family farms, all British, and carries the Red Tractor certified milk mark. The vegetable oils are sunflower, coconut, and rapeseed, with no palm oil at all. Lactose is the only carbohydrate, exactly as it is in breast milk, with no maltodextrin and no starch. There are GOS prebiotics and a second oligosaccharide called 3'-GL, plus nucleotides, taurine, choline, and inositol.
As an EU-Certified Organic product, Kendamil Stage 1 is rich in essential vitamins and minerals. It contains all necessary fatty acids, including ALA, LA, ARA, and plant-based DHA, which are critical for growth, particularly in brain and eye development. This formula includes prebiotics and Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs), which play a significant role in developing a healthy gut microbiome. Like early breast milk, Kendamil Stage 1 Organic has a 60/40 whey-to-casein ratio. Whey is easier for infants to digest and meets babies’ need for fast-absorbing, digestible food. As your baby grows, you can transition to Kendamil Organic Cow Stage 2 to support the weaning process, and later introduce Kendamil Organic Cow Stage 3 during their toddler years for continued nourishment and development. As feedback, we often hear that parents love the creamy and delicious taste of this formula!
Nice to know: Kendamil has been a family business since 1962 and still makes everything in the Lake District. The can says it proudly: the only British-made baby milk.

How to make a bottle

Preparation for all powdered formulas:
To open the can: snap open the tamper-proof clip and dispose of it immediately and safely, away from children. Hold the top of the can with both hands, place both thumbs under the lip and push up to open the lid. The scoop is held inside the lid. Open the foil seal by pulling back on the easy open tab carefully and safely, then dispose of the foil.
- Wash your hands, then sterilize your feeding utensils (bottle, teat, cap) according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Fill a kettle with 1 liter of freshly run tap water. Do not use repeatedly boiled water.
- Boil the water and leave it to cool for no more than 30 minutes, so it stays at a temperature of at least 70°C.
- Measure the required water into a sterilized bottle.
- Using the scoop provided, add the correct number of levelled scoops to the bottle. Use the straight edge inside the lid to level each scoop. Scoop size: 4.3g. Use 1 scoop per 30ml water.
- Place a sterilized teat and cap on the bottle and shake well to dissolve the powder.
- Cool to natural body temperature, approximately 37°C (98°F), by running the bottle under cold running water with the lid on. Always test the temperature on the inside of your wrist before feeding. Use the correct amount of levelled scoops as directed. Using too much or too little can make your baby ill. Once feeding begins, use the formula within 1 hour or discard it. Do not add food products such as cow's milk to your baby's milk. Do not re-heat in a microwave. When bottle feeding, do not allow prolonged contact of milk feeds with your baby's teeth, as this increases the risk of tooth decay. Make sure your baby's teeth are cleaned each night after the last feed. Use only the scoop provided in the pack.
