What Makes This Formula Special
Holle Cow Stage 1 is a proven from-birth recipe made with Demeter skimmed cow milk from Germany. Lactose is the only carbohydrate. DHA and ARA (15 mg each per 100 ml / 3.4 fl oz) support brain and eyesight. Because DHA comes from algae, not fish oil, this formula is vegetarian.
Use it as often as your baby needs. The recipe stays lactose-only from birth, with no starch and no maltodextrin.
Compared with Holle A2 Cow Stage 1: Both are organic first infant milks from birth in a 400 g (14.1 oz) box, with lactose only, DHA and ARA, and a similar fat blend that includes palm oil. Holle Cow Stage 1 is triple certified with Demeter milk. Holle A2 Cow Stage 1 is also EU Organic and Bio-Siegel. It is Halal certified and uses milk from selected A2 cows only.
Safety, Quality and Animal Welfare
This formula is triple certified: EU Organic, German Bio-Siegel, and Demeter. Demeter is the biodynamic farm standard that goes beyond EU organic. It treats the farm as one living system, with extra rules for soil health and the welfare of the cows used for the milk.
EU baby formula follows strict European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) rules, including required DHA, staged iron by age, and no corn syrup solids. Those rules are a higher bar than FDA formula standards and apply to all EU formulas we carry. Read more in our EU vs US formula guide.
Why Parents Trust Holle Cow Stage 1
Families call this “the best formula out there” and “way better than American formula.” Parents say it mixes cleanly instead of clumping, smells mild, and that babies finish feeds they used to refuse. One parent wrote they used it for their first child and now the newest baby too.
Others mention happier tummies, easier stools, and a baby who sleeps better. Several families have used Holle Cow for two or three children. It is still cow’s milk, so always check with your pediatrician first.
