HiPP Anti-Reflux –All stages (600g)Age: from birth onward |
|---|
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

First wash your hands and clean the bottle, the teat and the ring thoroughly. Then follow the five steps in the picture above. Step 5 is different from every other HiPP formula, so read it carefully.
- Boil fresh drinking water and let it cool to about 40 to 50 °C (104 to 122 °F). Never pour boiling water onto the powder, it damages the natural lactic acid cultures.
- Pour the right amount of cooled water into the bottle. See the feeding chart below for the amount.
- Add 1 level scoop of 4.3 g for every 30 ml (1 fl oz) of water. Fill the scoop loosely, level it off, and do not press the powder down. Use only the 4.3 g scoop that came in this box, because scoop weights differ between brands and between products.
- Close the bottle and shake vigorously several times.
- Now let the bottle stand for 7 minutes so the milk can thicken. Then shake it hard again and check the drinking temperature, about 37 °C (98 °F). Test a drop on the inside of your wrist. It should feel warm, not hot. Now it is ready.
Those 7 minutes are what makes the locust bean gum swell. Skip them and the milk stays thin and will not do its job. Plan for them, a hungry baby will not wait patiently.

Read this part first. HiPP Anti-Reflux is a medical food, not an everyday formula. In German it is a Spezialnahrung, bilanzierte Diät, which in English means a food for special medical purposes. It is made for the dietary management of frequent posseting and spitting up in babies.
Use it only after speaking to your pediatrician, under their supervision, and only for as long as your baby needs it to settle the symptoms. Most babies feel better within a few days. If nothing improves, go back to your doctor rather than carrying on.
A little bringing up of milk after a feed, along with a burp, is completely normal. Anti-Reflux is for babies who spit up far more than usual, or in gushes.
What makes Anti-Reflux different
- Locust bean gum. A natural thickener from the carob seed. It makes the milk noticeably thicker so it stays down in the stomach instead of flowing back up the food pipe, which is what reduces the spitting up.
- The 7 minute wait. The thickener needs time to swell. This is the only HiPP formula with that step.
- Intact cow's milk protein. Unlike Comfort and the HA range, the protein here is not hydrolyzed.
- Full lactose. 6.9 g per 100 ml, the same as a normal formula. HiPP Comfort is the lactose reduced one, not this.
- Natural lactic acid cultures, the same L. fermentum used across the HiPP range.
- Softer stools after switching are common and are not a reason to stop.
Important notes
- Make each bottle fresh just before the feed and give it straight away, once the 7 minutes are up.
- Never reuse milk your baby has left. Throw it away.
- Never warm a bottle in the microwave. It heats unevenly and can scald your baby's mouth.
- Thickened milk flows more slowly, so you may need a teat with a slightly larger hole. Check that your baby is not working too hard to feed.
- After opening, close the inner pouch well and keep it dry, at room temperature, and use it within 3 weeks. Never store it in the fridge.
- The date is on the bottom of the box and is written DD/MM/YYYY. So 05/09/2027 means 5 September 2027, not 9 May.
- Do not let your baby suck on the bottle for long periods. Frequent or long contact between the teeth and drinks that contain carbohydrate can cause tooth decay.
- The amounts below are a guide. Your baby does not have to finish the bottle. Ask your pediatrician if you are unsure.
Feeding chart
Always 1 level scoop of 4.3 g per 30 ml (1 fl oz) of water. This 600 g (21.2 oz) box makes approx. 46 bottles of 100 ml. Treat that as a guide, the exact number depends on how you level each scoop and on a little spillage.
| Age | Water | Scoops | Bottles a day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Week 1 to 2* | 60 ml 2 fl oz = 70 ml ready |
2 | 7 to 8 |
| Week 3 to 4 | 90 ml 3 fl oz = 100 ml ready |
3 | 5 to 7 |
| Week 5 to 8 | 120 ml 4 fl oz = 135 ml ready |
4 | 5 to 6 |
| 3 to 4 months | 150 ml 5 fl oz = 170 ml ready |
5 | 5 |
| 5 months** | 180 ml 6 fl oz = 200 ml ready |
6 | 4 to 5 |
| From 6 months | 210 ml 7 fl oz = 235 ml ready |
7 | 4 |
The grey line is the ready to drink amount you end up with once the powder is added. Fill the bottle with the water amount, not the ready amount.
* Unless your doctor advises otherwise.
** From the fifth month you can start solid food in consultation with your doctor or midwife. Each new solid meal replaces one bottle feed. The amounts and the number of feeds a day are guide values.
From birth it can be the only food, under medical supervision. From the 6th month it fits into a mixed diet.
